I've got a bunch of Lucent Partner-6 phones laying around.

These cant be wired for base analog, can they?  We have Time Warner "All-In-One" (Digital Cable/Digital Phone/Roadrunner) and the connector on the back of this phone is a Network style category-5

I was just looking at keeping a few of these phones for our house if i can get them working.

Thats what i'm seeing throughout the web...the "terminal" as its described, has to be linked electronically.  Kinda sucks, but oh well...Analog is still good.

I might do the analog split ASAP.  Everytime i turn on the God damn TV menu, somebody in this house sees something they wanna watch, and i end up going back on the computer.

So would it be easier for me to just buy a $20 digital box off ebay to use in other rooms?

These rooms would probably only watch specific channels...my dad is hooked on the Military Channel (513)

Allright, they hooked up the cable.  He went ahead and took the initiative to cut every cable i had in there and rewire them (real big help).  But i have since rewired it to have a 3-feed tap to the other rooms.  So far, Me, my Mom, and Duffman are gunna need a feed.

Now, here's my question...

If i were to buy digital boxes off ebay and install them, would it be the same?  Time Warner wants to charge like $10 per room per month, which i think is a crock of crap.

Also, whats the legality on buying boxes online? *wink wink*

We've got a TV thats nice, but isnt cable ready...and i figured "why not...buy a box"

Whats the difference between analog cable and digital?
10  [EVIL]Clan Public Forums / General Public Chat / Cable TV in other rooms on: December 16, 2006, 09:26:36 am
Hello all!

I had a random but interesting question...

We're buying the "all-in-one" package from Time Warner.  Currently, they're coming Dec. 29th to hook everything up.  We used to have cable about 13 years ago, but cancelled it due to a billing error.  With us being one of the last people in the world still using an antenna, we decided to step up to 1980s technology and get cable tv.

Here's my questions...

1.)Digital Cable...does it still use coax?

2.)If i were to run this to other rooms, would all i need to do is split the incoming coax connection however many ways for different rooms? Or do i need some sort of amplifier.  I currently have a "Video Amp" connected to the antenna to run it to other rooms.

What i plan to do, is literally saw holes in the wall and install cover plates with coax connections on both sides.  That way, i connect it to the back...screw in the plate (to the box, mounted on the stud, of course).

Its either this, or crap rig it through holes in the floor...and im not really for that too much anymore.

I would only need to do this twice...one for my parents room, and once for my brother (>DG<Duffman)'s room.  My room is in the basement, and i can just run it above the cieling tiles in my room.

12  [EVIL]Clan Public Forums / General Public Chat / Difference between B and G 802.11 routers? on: November 29, 2006, 06:56:29 am
I just inherited a slightly used Linksys Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch, but its 802.11b.

I currently have 2 devices piggy-backed.  One a D-Link 701p, and piggy-backed to that for wireless access is a D-Link Wireless 524 (802.11G)

How much of a difference is there between B and G?  This one router would completely simplify everything i have down there (instead of piggy-back garbled crap)  I rarely send files over any computer thats wireless, except to print...and my internet connection is Time Warner Roadrunner, so i believe its still only 768k

Happy Birthday to you, my friend.

I should put my N64 i paid $399.99 for in 1999 on ebay for those prices, just to prove a point.

Thats absolutly rediculous.  They should be mandated to donate 10% to charity or something.
15  [EVIL]Clan Public Forums / General Public Chat / Where to build a custom PC online? on: November 16, 2006, 09:10:52 am
A few years ago (quite a few) there used to be a website where you could literally buy a computer by customizing what you wanted in it.

Here's my idea.

The living room needs a PC, and my computer literally has an extra computer in it.  By this, i mean, it has embedded video card, 2 hard drives (Original 40 gig and 120 gig).

Its an Emachine T1742.

Basically, im looking to buy/build a computer that has:

-The processor...at least 1.7 gig Celeron or higher (i have that now)
-RAM..............HAS to be DDR SDRAM, at least 128meg, so i can put it in the Emachine T1742 and keep my (2) 512 megs RAM sticks

And thats about it! Anybody know where i can go?
